Boundary Surveys
There are two main types of boundary surveys.
Retracement surveys - surveying an existing parcel and a Plat of Survey - creating a new parcel.
Both types result in the lines and corners being marked on the ground as well as a plat (map) being created and recorded with the county.
ALTA/NSPS
This type of survey is typically used on commercial properties when title insurance is issued. It includes everything a boundary survey does as well as easements, access and other specifics required by American Land Title Associations and the National Society of Professional Surveyors.
Elevation Certificate
Elevation certificates provide the data needed to assess the flood risk of a particular structure. It provides an accurate elevation of the structure and the controlling flood plain maps used to determine the base flood elevation.

This information is mostly used by local Planning, Zoning and Building Departments and the flood insurance industry.
